Art Pollination: Building Food Justice through Creativity
This morning, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his project team announced, "Art Pollination: Building Food Justice through Creativity," an initiative that leverages temporary art installations to raise awareness and promote solutions around the shared challenge of food insecurity and hunger in our community. Using the $1 million competitive grant awarded by Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge, new works by local artists will be up for display along the Orlando Urban Trail, in community centers, at food event sites, in project wayfinding, on Urban Billboards, and in exhibitions at CityArts and Terrace Gallery. Discover more at Orlando.gov/ArtPollination.

DOP's Black History Month: Meet the Artists Reception, presented by Orlando Credit Union
To celebrate Black History Month, the Downtown Orlando Partnership hosted a Meet the Artists Reception, presented by Orlando Credit Union, in Orlando City Hall's Terrace Gallery. With the support of the Orlando Credit Union, we were able to showcase not only the talented artists featured in the gallery, but also Clark Catering Concepts and Black Bee Honey, Black-owned businesses in Central Florida that provided the morning's delicious treats. If you weren't able to attend, please visit the gallery before March 30th to check out artwork by local artists, try Black Bee Honey, which is featured in the Discover Downtown shop, or reach out to Clark Catering Concepts at demclarks@clark-catering.com!

Oxenfree Tells the Story of Dr. P. Phillips for his 150th Birthday Celebration
Dr. Phillips Charities partnered with Oxenfree Film & Motion to tell the life story and continued impact of Dr. P. Phillips ("Doc'), a 19th century citrus industry pioneer whose philanthropic efforts continue to shape Central Florida today. The film premiered to over 2,000 people at Doc’s 150th Birthday Celebration at the Dr. Phillips Center, giving the audience an immersive look into who Doc was, what Dr. Phillips Charities does, and how Doc’s legacy will continue to shape Central Florida for generations to come. Through archival footage projected onto Orlando landmarks, dynamic historical montages, and interviews with leaders in the Central Florida community, Oxenfree designed a film that explores what legacy truly means: connecting the past, present, and future to tell a holistic story of Doc’s lasting influence. Watch the video here!
