Self-Serve Sandbag Locations
Orange County Public Works will offer self-serve sandbags to residents ahead of potential impacts from weather system Helena. Residents will be provided with 10 unfilled sandbags and directed to the sand pile on site. All residents will need to bring their own shovel to fill their sandbags. Individuals with special needs who need sandbag assistance should contact Orange County 311 by dialing 3-1-1 or 407-836-3111. See below for a list of locations, which will be open today, September 25, 2024, from 9am to 7pm.

YMCA Partnering with Orlando Health on Youth Wellness
The YMCA of Central Florida has announced their recent partnership with Orlando Health as the official “Youth Sports Partner” of the organization. In a press release, Kevin Bolding, President and CEO of YMCA of Central Florida, said that the partnership will “help educate thousands of families in our Y youth sports programs on ways to keep their kids healthy and injury-free during their practices and games.” Participating YMCA locations include the Leonard & Marjorie Williams Family YMCA in the Packing District and the Downtown Orlando location. Orlando Health doctors and staff will attend select games to offer free advice on injury prevention and recovery support when injuries do occur.

SunRail Safety Week
Did you know this week is SunRail Safety Week? We invite you to take part in helping promote rail safety to keep our community safe. Every incident at a grade crossing and on the tracks is preventable. Four main points that all locals should be aware of are; keep two car lengths away from the tracks during train crossing, avoid distractions near the tracks, obey railroad signs and signals, and do not walk or place objects on the tracks during train crossing. September is Library Card Sign-up Month!
Orange County Library System has rolled out a new library card design to encourage more people to sign up. The citrus-inspired design availability coincides with national “Library Card Sign-up Month” in September, and it is available to new or existing card holders. Customers can also opt for the 100-Year Celebration design. Take advantage of the library's long list of services including, physical and virtual media, home delivery, classes, and creative facilities, by signing up for digital access at OCLS.info, or get a physical card at any OCLS location.
