DOWNTOWN BUSINESS NEWS ICYMI – New Downtown Orlando Financial Incentive Program Last week, the Orlando City Council unanimously approved a Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Downtown Incentives initiative that offers two distinct, groundbreaking programs: the DTO Restaurant Program and the DTO Retail Program. Under the DTO Restaurant Program, eligible eateries with over five years of experience may receive up to $475,000 in funding to cover tenant improvements and rent expenses. Meanwhile, the DTO Retail Program, tailored for retail businesses with at least two years of experience, offers up to $200,000 to support tenant improvements, rent, and even personal services. Orlando City, Orlando Pride, and OCB Wrap up Historic Campaigns The 2023 regular seasons were historic ones for all three of Orlando’s soccer clubs, with Orlando City SC, Orlando Pride, and Orlando City B all having record setting campaigns this year. On the Major League Soccer side, City earned the No. 2 overall seed heading into the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs, earning home field advantage through at least the first two rounds. Orlando Pride, the Club’s National Women’s Soccer League team, earned the most home wins in its nine-year history and tied for the second most wins in the league with 10. Orlando City B clinched its first ever MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs appearance with forward Jack Lynn winning MLS NEXT Pro MVP, MLS NEXT Pro Best XI and a share of the Golden Boot. DTO EVENTS 52nd Annual Fall Fiesta in the Park The City of Orlando invites you to celebrate 52 years of Fall Fiesta in the Park! Enjoy the beauty of the season and browse hundreds of artist, crafter, and food vendor booths around beautiful Lake Eola Park from 10am-5pm this Saturday and Sunday. Café with the Artists The City of Orlando invites you for a café con leche on Friday, November 3rd from 10am-12pm at City Hall's Terrace Gallery to meet the Hispanic visual artists that are displaying their art in an exhibition that delves into the historical inspiration of dominoes within Hispanic culture while enjoying a morning filled of art, culture, and stimulating conversation. In addition, attendees are able to meet Domino USA representatives and learn about their historical Dominoe set collection. This event will provide valuable insights into the cultural significance of dominoes in Hispanic heritage. HONORING VETERANS Paychecks for PatriotsCareerSource of Central Florida is hosting the 11th Annual Paychecks for Patriots job fair dedicated to addressing the employment needs of service members and Veterans in Central Florida on Thursday, November 9th from 10am-2pm at Valencia College School of Public Safety. Participating companies include Disney Military, Amazon, Addition Financial, Community Health Centers, Desoto Group, OMNI Hotel and Resort, UF Health Central Florida, and more, offering career opportunities as dental assistants, area ride and show technicians, daycare teachers, painters, transportation supervisor, school crossing guard, medical assistant and more. Veterans from Lake, Osceola, Orange, Seminole, and Sumter counties are invited to come to this event, whether they are searching for their next job or transitioning to civilian life. Veteran's Day Parade Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and his Veterans Advisory Council will honor the courageous men and women of the armed forces at the 24th annual City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade in downtown Orlando. Following the parade, viewers and participants can continue celebrating and honoring our veterans at the city's Veterans Day Celebration event from 1-3pm at Lake Eola Park immediately following the parade. The celebration and veterans’ information fair will feature music, food and fun for the whole family. The opening ceremony will take place at Orange Avenue near Central Boulevard. The parade will begin at Robinson Street and Orange Avenue, turning left on Central Boulevard, left on Rosalind Avenue and ending at Robinson Street.
